The big problem was that it would sometimes refuse to start and was not flooded while other times it would start on the first pull. Many times, playing around with the fuel hose — taking it on and off the tank and the motor and pumping it — would get things going again. In other words, all the symptoms of a blockage in the fuel line. We got a new fuel hose and Dave transferred the old ends and primer bulb. The engine started right up and the primer bulb behaved normally. Okay, basic problem solved. But I was curious about what had happened — both basic curiosity and wanting to write a post since others we know have had similar problems. Dave began by trying to blow though the old hose.

If your engine has this requirement, wait until the thermostat opens the water jackets, then turn valve to the ‘Salt-Away’ position. This position mixes Salt-Away and water to the correct ratio of Salt-Away to water for easily removing salt.
Run engine with Salt-Away flushing through the cooling system. Watch for the Salt-Away foaming action to exit the exhaust. Turn Salt-Away Mixing Unit valve to the ‘off’ position and remove Mixing Unit from the flushing muffs or other flushing device. Do not rinse Salt-Away out of engine with fresh water. Leave inside so that its corrosion inhibitors can protect the metal from rusting and corroding, and so that the salt removing agent can begin to break apart salt accumulation.

Just bought a bass boat with a 50hp outboard. Would like to test it out of the water. The boat came with what looks like a pair of ear muffs that have a water hose attachment. Posted on September 14, by Rhian We had such a nice trip back from the Corrotoman that we decided not to ruin our possibly last memory of charging along under full sail by going out in less than perfect weather or having to motor. It was also less emotional not to have known it might be the last sail at the time! As the Atlantic crossing was a downwind passage, the mainsail can be pressed against the mast spreaders and constant movement will wear the sailcloth, so we put up the protection, taped around the spreaders.
It stayed up well, hence the old glue took a bit of work to remove but we put up new lazyjacks at the same time. Both cabins look really nice now, all empty, huge and clean. The lockup is virtually full, despite it being 10 feet by 5 feet. We need to leave items on the boat that are included in the asking price and these range from the satellite phone to champagne glasses. She also needs to be clear for viewings and survey. As you will know, she devastated so many beautiful islands, fragile, tourist dependant islands that now have nothing.
Social media makes it all too real, too immediate and horrifying to see and we hope life can return to some sort of normality soon. Many of our friends had boats in her path and somehow they have all survived intact. It was badly damaged and looted.
The boat has an intact hardtop and the bubble windows are still very clear. The hardtop is a tangerine color as well as the trim. I knew very next to nothing about these boats as I was hauling it down the highway after buying it. But I have come to find what a unique classic these boats are! An application of a good quality marine wax will help to seal and protect the finish against the sun and salt. Treat your engine with silicone spray. Every second or third trip, remove the hood of your outboard make sure the engine is turned off and cool to the touch and apply a thin film of silicone spray to the power head.
